January 31, 2026—Elaine O.

Something about cold grey days draws me to cozy kitchen subjects. This is from my sketchbook. I'm still trying to up my "healthy foods" game and I find it's just as much fun to paint them as to eat them.

Oh, and this one is finished, too.

  1. That’s quite the composition. Set up
In tiers I’m guessing. The couple is wonderful…will it be given to them?

    1. Yeah, it doesn't quite make sense, does it? Still, I don't hate it. I guess I'll say I was influenced by Japanese woodcuts and scrolls. LOL

  2. Been back and forth and I cannot tell the difference between this posting and last week's.

The fruits are very nice but I would rather they were surrounded by dark shadowy stuff. It would make them gleam Baby.

    1. I tried to fix the woodwork and finished the bouquet. I also made some small tweaks to the faces, clothes and windows. But basically, it was very close to finished last week—I just had a little cleaning up and touching up to do.

  3. Well, I can see the difference and it’s even better now. I really love the flowers and I liked them before. I thought that you even cleaned up the messy woodwork per Ken’s suggestion. Yeah, they should be happy to have this in their memory book.
Your still life is lovely. I could make suggestions but I don’t think they would make it any better. Kudos on the white cloth.

  4. All the tweaks really helped - brought the couple front and center more imo. They should be really happy with this ! The fruit in the still life is just divine - love those apples!
