Somehow, I feel summer fruit still life paintings should be simple, light and direct. Unlike winter or autumn, where you want a cornucopia of stuff with lots of elements against a deep rich background, summer fruit shines all by itself. Hence these cherries. I only added a classic kitchen towel to give them a feel of summer in a farm kitchen and a crystal coupe to add the touch of elegance they deserve.

Nice work on the clear glass and the cloth. Beautiful color combo. And they do look delicious. I’m itching to get back to Michigan and my local orchard.
ReplyDeleteIn the spirit with which I can look at the Mona Lisa and opine that those evergreens in back are not green enough, that table could use a more reddish hue. But I quibble. The cherries are great but that soft white cloth steals the show. And the blue stripe goes over hill and down the dale and reaches the cherries just as they are about to tumble into the hands of the ravenous viewer.
ReplyDeleteI hate the way blogspot won't let you edit your comments, so now I have to make an additional comment. Anyway, speaking of the Mona Lisa, here is something I found out looking up an image of her to decide what improvement to recommend: https://www.npr.org/2012/02/02/146288063/painting-sheds-new-light-on-the-mona-lisa
