The strength of this painting is composition. The objects are well rendered but they are kind of irrelevant. IF you kept the shapes and the colors, but used other objects, say fish or birds, it would still be strong painting.
This painting is great because everything is working together. That is composition, color, value, line, shape, foreground, background and subject matter. And doing so in surprising, unexpected and not cliché ways.
